Real Madrid continue to be linked with a move for Ibrahima Konate as he enters the final year of his Liverpool contract.
Konate was instrumental for Arne Slot’s side last season as they clinched the Premier League title for the 20th time, equalling Manchester United’s record.
The France international raked up 42 appearances, scored two goals and provided two assists for the Reds across all competitions.
Liverpool are determined to keep Konate, and talks have already been held, with the defender first disclosing he had received an offer from the Reds at the start of the year.
However, no agreement has been reached, and as it stands, the former Leipzig centre-back will be free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs from January.
Konate’s former youth coach at FC Sochaux, Eric Hely is confident the 26-year-old would thrive at Real Madrid.
“I would highlight his charisma and his simplicity, which make him a leader,” he told Marca.
He wanted to succeed and worked tirelessly, even on his own.
“If he did it at Liverpool, why not at Real Madrid.
He gives off a lot of confidence and has a very good footwork.
“I’d say better than Rudiger, who is undoubtedly an athlete, but I think Ibrahima is technically stronger.
“I’m sure he can succeed at Madrid and wherever he wants.
The other kids followed him because of his charisma.”
