Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate was left delighted when PSG and France superstar Ousmane Dembele revealed he was a fan of the Reds thanks to Steven Gerrard.

Konate and Dembele faced each other in the Champions League earlier this season, with Liverpool ultimately exiting on penalties in the quarter-final stage to the Ligue 1 side that has since reached the final.

"It’s Ousmane Dembele and I’m going to tell you my three favorite players," Dembele says on a video released by the French national team on Instagram yesterday.

"Number one is Lionel Messi.

I was a fan of Liverpool."

Earlier this week, former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders suggested that the Reds should replace Darwin Nunez with Dembele in the transfer market this summer, though that would be an extremely unlikely move.
