The Frenchman has entered his final contracted season at the club and any potential talks over a new deal are not progressing.
The 26-year-old has established himself as Virgil van Dijk’s chief center-back partner since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021.
However, after entering the last year of his contract, he is attracting interest from elsewhere and is eligible o sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs overseas from January.
With Real Madrid currently showing the most interest in the player, the club are growing increasingly more anxious that the defender may choose a similar path to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool born right-back chose to run his contract down and not sign an extension with the club, whilst also not expressing his desire to leave the club.
He escaped out the back door, never to be seen in Red again.
A similar pattern is being formed with Ibrahima Konate, as the center-back appears unwilling to engage in contract talks, but continuously drops subtle hints that his mind may have been turned towards Real Madrid.
He is currently away on international duty, and has made an admission about the attempts that Kylian Mbappe is making to convince him to join Real Madrid.
During a yes/no game on French TV Telefoot, presenter Severine Parlakou asked: “The Spanish press is ending you to Real Madrid
Kylian Mbappe is putting a bit of pressure eon you to come?”
Konate laughed and responded, saying: “He calls me every two hours!”
A worrying admission from Ibrahima Konate, and it will be no laughing matter to Arne Slot, having already lost a key defender to Los Blancos during his time at Liverpool.
