Ibrahima Konate reacted to a message from Liverpool teammate Ryan Gravenberch amid the defender’s continued uncertain future.

Many of the Reds’ squad enjoyed a change in fortunes after the arrival of Arne Slot last summer, but none more so than Gravenberch.

Signed to be a roaming and industrious number eight, the Dutchman struggled to establish himself in the heart of Liverpool‘s midfield.

It appeared that Gravenberch was on course to suffer the same fate as he did at Bayern Munich, where he was seen as a talented player, but one that lacked consistency and drifted out of games.

That was until Slot moved the 23-year-old to the base of his midfield to occupy the number six position that had been vacant since Fabinho’s move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

Gravenberch has since developed into one of the Premier League’s best midfielders and is set to be a major part of Liverpool’s squad once again as they look to retain their crown as champions of England.

The Dutch midfielder shared several images of the Adidas-produced shirts on Instagram, captioned: “Home and away, this is Liverpool.”

The post garnered a reaction from teammate Konate, although there is a chance that the Frenchman does not wear the new Liverpool kit this season.

Football Insider Verdict

Konate is a target for Real Madrid as the Frenchman is in the last year of his contract at Anfield.

Los Blancos have built their transfer strategy around securing high-profile free agents in recent years, with both Kylian Mbappe and former Red Trent Alexander-Arnold joining the club for free.

However, Real Madrid may be inclined to try and secure Konate’s signature this summer, but Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider Liverpool will demand £40million.

The Premier League champions are understandably extremely reluctant to see Konate leave, especially after Jarell Quansah joined Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool have quality, but lack depth in the centre-back position, and losing the 26-year-old would be a massive blow this summer.
