Ibrahima Konate’s future is still uncertain as he enters the final year of his Liverpool contract.
The 26-year-old was a mainstay in the Premier League title-winning team last season.
He racked up 42 appearances in all competitions under Arne Slot.
During his four seasons at Anfield, the France defender has turned out 132 times across all competitions.
Konate, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021, continues to be linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Reacting to speculation surrounding his future, the centre-back said on May 25: “You know, I just want to say one thing: Everything you saw on social media is completely fake.
“I didn’t even ask for something from the club.
They made me an offer, and I replied to them with something, that is it.
“The rest (speculation) that I want to wait until the end…I want this, all of it is completely fake.
I knew at one moment people would think I didn’t want to sign the contract but I was never close to signing it?
We will see what will happen.”
According to The Mirror, Konate has rejected a lucrative approach from the Saudi Pro League, insisting he wants to remain in Europe.
Talks between Liverpool and Konate’s representatives have not progressed as expected in recent months.
The report claims that “an unnamed club from Saudi Arabia contacted Konate via his representatives to register an interest in signing the ex-RB Leipzig star this summer.
“But Konate rebuffed the chance to sit down at the negotiating table and instead outlined his commitment to staying in Europe, where he wants to continue competing at the highest level.”
Liverpool are keen to keep Konate after selling Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen in a £35million deal.
