Ibrahima Konate has lashed out a Liverpool fan account on social media following criticism of his early-season performances.

Konate is yet to sign a contract extension and his current deal expires at the end of the season.
The Frenchman has been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid, following in Trent Alexander-Arnold's footsteps, while some saw Liverpool’s willingness to sign Marc Guehi as an indication that the club feels a new center-back is required.
Amid the speculation and uncertainty, fan aggregator Anfield Sector wrote on Instagram: “If Konate plays like he has in the last two games for the rest of the season I'll have no issue wishing him well if he decides to leave at the end of the season, top draw
Jamie Carragher was among those to criticize the performances of Ibrahima Konate after the first three matches of the season
only after two games.”
Liverpool’s no.5 had a busy night of social media activity and posted a meme saying “thank you” to a video snippet on X of reporter David Lynch describing Konate as a “world-class defender”.
Regardless, Liverpool fans will hope there is a satisfactory conclusion to his contract saga, especially given the speculation that surrounded Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah last season.
Konate’s future has not generated the same level of angst, but losing the center-back would certainly be a huge blow to Arne Slot’s long-term plans.
The ex-RB Leipzig man has been an almost ever-present since the Dutchman took over at Anfield last season, with a knee injury in December providing the only real disruption in that time.
Meanwhile, Konate is not the only Liverpool player to engage with a fan aggregator on social media in recent weeks.
Mohamed Salah responded to a post on X claiming Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak are upgrades on Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez by writing: “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?”
