Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate has fired a celebratory message to Paris FC following their promotion to the French top-flight on Friday.

The promotion-winners had an extra affiliation with the Reds as well after falling under the Red Bull umbrella with Jurgen Klopp in the role of Head of Global Sports.

Paris secured promotion to Ligue 1 after their 1-1 draw with Martigues which secured a top-two finish for the club.



He was in attendance at Stade Charlety for the first time, after the club were sold to Bernard Arnault and Red Bull in November.

The France international posted to his Instagram story celebrating the feat by the club, he shared their promotion post with a host of emojis.

Konate was born in Paris and with the uncertainty emerging regarding his contract at Anfield, there have been reports of interest from European giants including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

But celebrating the feat of the Ligue 1 champions' rivals may have stapled his colours to the mast, with the club set to move to their new stadium next season - a street away from the Parc des Princes.

The new ground is one that will be pleasing for Klopp after he admitted their current ground, at an athletics arena, is a stadium where you cannot create an atmosphere.

Konate spoke highly of Klopp after the announcement that the German would step down as manager.

"Liverpool is Liverpool," he said.
