Rangers are planning to move for multiple new signings before the transfer deadline following Hamza Igamane’s confirmed move to Lille.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Russell Martin’s plans in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

Following their deal to sign Bojan Miovski from Girona, the Ibrox club remain determined to further strengthen their available attacking options.

Football Insider revealed on 31 August that Rangers have agreed terms with Everton’s Youssef Chermiti and are closing in on a £10million agreement with the Toffees.

The 21-year-old is on standby to undergo a medical as the two clubs thrash out the structure of the fee, with Martin prioritising attacking additions.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 16 August that Rangers would reinvest money from Igamane’s sale into the first-team squad before the deadline.

Lille eventually agreed a fee for the forward, who underwent a medical in France before completing the move, having been keen to depart Ibrox this summer.

O’Rourke explained that while the Morocco international’s exit will be a blow, the money raised from his sale has accelerated Rangers’ transfer plans.

“Rangers are now sort of resigned to the fact that he is moving on,” he told Football Insider last week.

“They are planning to use that money to go out and strengthen the squad and allow Russell Martin to make a few signings.

“The squad looks a bit thin in certain areas and the signings will be needed to try and help Rangers improve the results from the start of the season.

“Losing Igamane will be a blow to Rangers, especially in attacking areas.

“So that will be a key area where they look to strengthen before the window closes.

“They already have a number of targets in mind who they want to bring in, so it’s a case of accelerating those deals with the money from Igamane’s sale.”

While plans continue to be put in place to strengthen his squad, questions are being asked about Martin’s future as pressure grows on his position as manager.

Former Sir Alex Ferguson number two Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rangers are asking “serious” questions of Martin early in his tenure.

Doubts stemming from the manager’s time at Southampton have been carried over to Glasgow, and there is now a demand to see clear improvements.

Football Insider revealed on 25 August that Martin is under “huge” pressure from Rangers fans with discontent already beginning to grow amongst the supporters.
