Hamza Igamane’s future rests on the Champions League after Rangers made the striker’s transfer value clear, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have said on Rangers’ efforts to keep hold of Igamane this summer.
Igamane has become Rangers’ most sellable asset this summer after 16 goals and three assists in his debut season at Ibrox, and a number of Premier League clubs have lined up moves for the 22-year-old.
Lille have also emerged as potential suitors for Igamane after West Ham United cooled their interest, but sources have told Football Insider that the French side have been unwilling to meet Rangers’ price tag.
Rangers will demand between £15m and £20million to sell Igamane this summer, but if Russell Martin‘s side manage to qualify for the Champions League, their chances of keeping the striker will be boosted.

Martin’s Light Blues got off to a winning start in their bid to reach the league phase of this season’s Champions League, beating Panathinaikos 3-1 on aggregate across their second qualifying round tie.

Speaking on the new Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke said that Champions League qualification could prove crucial to Rangers’ attempts to keep Igamane this summer, as they hold firm on their valuation.
“There’s no guarantees on Igamane’s future right now”, he told Football Insider.
“I think a lot will depend on whether Rangers qualify for the Champions League – if they do, it’ll obviously boost their chances of keeping hold of Igamane, but there’s interest in the Moroccan.
“Lille have been very keen to sign him, but haven’t been willing to meet Rangers’ valuation so far.
Rangers are standing firm on their valuation of the 22-year-old, holding out for around £15–20million.”

Rangers owners 49ers Enterprises have given Martin a decent transfer kitty this summer and made an ambitious £20m loan-to-buy bid for Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but sales cannot be ruled out.
Everton, Brentford and West Ham’s interest in Igamane had the potential to spark a bidding war, but the Premier League trio all having second thoughts have left the likes of Lille with a clear run in the race.
Igamane’s future will remain up for debate for as long as he remains at Ibrox given the level of his talent, but with Rangers desperate to keep hold of the best elements in a bloated squad, expect this saga to run very late into the window.
