Leeds United will look to follow up their 1-0 win over Everton with a statement result away at Arsenal this weekend.

The Whites made a triumphant return to the top flight on Monday, with Lukas Nmecha’s 84th-minute penalty delivering all three points against an admittedly disappointing Toffees side.

But now, the difficulty ramps right up, with Leeds travelling to Arsenal.

The Gunners also won 1-0 at the weekend, away at Manchester United, while they’re about to add Eberechi Eze to an already-stacked group — meaning Leeds will be hard-pressed to take something from the Emirates Stadium.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still working his way back to full fitness but could make it to the bench in North London, though Ethan Ampadu is now out for around a month with a knee injury, sustained in a robust challenge from Everton’s Tim Iroegbunam.

Monday’s win was Ampadu’s 25th consecutive league game without defeat, which is a new club record outside the Don Revie era.

However, summer arrival Jaka Bijol is now available to make his debut after serving a suspension, while Leeds recently unveiled Noah Okafor, who could be thrown straight into the matchday squad — but most likely on the bench.

Daniel Farke will be delighted with his side’s defensive performance against Everton, meaning he’ll probably stick with the same backline that delivered a clean sheet at Elland Road.

Ilia Gruev is the man most likely to come in for the injured Ampadu, but the rest of the side is likely to remain unchanged.

Anton Stach was particularly impressive in midfield on Monday, creating a match-high four chances, attempting four shots and covering more ground (11.7km) than any other player on the pitch (FotMob).

Leeds United’s predicted XI vs Arsenal

Football Insider verdict

There has been a buzz around Leeds since their 1-0 win over Everton on Monday, which could give them a great platform to build from as they seek to avoid an immediate relegation back to the Championship.

However, Arsenal are a whole different kettle of fish.

Sure, the Gunners didn’t bring their best against Man United last week, but they proved in game one that they can win ugly and that they remain resolute at the back.

What’s more, there will be even more optimism around the Emirates with Eze coming in — even if he can’t play here — while Viktor Gyokeres will be out for goals after another week of training with his new teammates.

Leeds showed enough on the opening weekend to suggest they won’t get rolled over by Mikel Arteta’s men, but it’s going to be a tough task trying to leave with some form of result — especially given Arsenal have now conceded just one goal in their last 339 minutes of Premier League football.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Leeds
