Liverpool have had a phenomenal season and some of their stars have been awarded with some top awards.
Although the Reds have shown unity all season, certain players have really stood head and shoulders above the rest, none more so than Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian can’t seem to stop breaking records season after season, with the 32-year-old most recently smashing the record for the most combined goals and assists in a 38-game season with 47.
However, there is one award in particular that has, rightly or wrongly, escaped him so far in his career and that is the Ballon d’Or.
He has come close to winning it in the past and appears even closer this year, although it is a topic that has certainly divided opinion, even amongst his teammates.

Salah has registered 29 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League this season, something Gravenberch knows more than most after sharing the pitch with him in all bar one league game throughout the campaign.
The battle for the award is always pretty tight but this year more than most, although the Dutchman clearly thinks his teammate is deserving of it.
Unlike the two-horse race we have been used to seeing in the past between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, this year’s Ballon d’Or has four clear frontrunners.
Salah is up against Barcelona duo Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, as well as the player Konate believes deserves it in Dembele.

Trophies, rightly or wrongly, certainly play a huge factor and with Dembele picking up the Champions League as PSG won the treble, he may be the favourite.
However, if Salah was to win the award, it would be very hard to argue that it is not deserved and that statistics are not everything, although there is still a little bit of time to wait yet as the ceremony isn’t until 22nd September.
