Illan Meslier has not started a competitive game for Leeds since 29 March as he remains firmly out of Daniel Farke’s plans.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider on 18 August that Meslier would quit Leeds after the signing of Lucas Perri.
A deal was never finalised in the summer transfer window despite Rangers making a late attempt to sign Meslier from Leeds.
The Frenchman has been knocked down the pecking order at Elland Road as he must now decide on the next steps in his dwindling career.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the number 16 is in the last year of his deal as he weighs up his options.
The former Lorient shot-stopper’s contract will expire at the end of the season which could see him bide his time to leave as a free agent in the summer of 2026.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I think there’ll obviously be speculation about him, as you said, he’s not in the plans of Daniel Farke anymore.

“He’s now third choice goalkeeper between behind Lucas Perri and now Karl Darlow, who’s slotted into the starting XI in recent games due to Perri’s injury.
“So look, that tells you everything you need to know with Leeds and Illan Meslier, he’s not in the plans.

“But again, Meslier is in a good position because he’s out of contract next summer and he can leave for free or he can agree a pre-contract in January.
I’m sure Leeds would love to try and sell them in January and get some money for them.
But I don’t think the player will be rushing into anything just then as well.”
As well as resolving the Meslier dilemma in goal, Farke is keen to bolster his defence to give the Peacocks the best chance of staying up.

Sources told Football Insider on 19 September that Leeds are in the hunt for Man City’s Nico O’Reilly.
The Whites are not the only ones after the talented Englishman with Chelsea also pursuing O’Reilly despite Pep Guardiola wanting to keep him.
The Cityzens are adamant that the 20-year-old is a part of the club’s long-term plans as a substantial offer will be required.
