Dominic Calvert-Lewin shared a message to supporters despite missing a penalty on his Leeds debut in their Carabao Cup exit.
Daniel Farke’s side crashed out of the Carabao Cup in the second round after a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday was settled by a penalty shootout.
Leeds rotated their squad for the tie but still fielded a strong line-up against the Championship outfit, with Lukas Nmecha, Noah Okafor and Joel Piroe all starting.
New signing Calvert-Lewin, who joined Leeds on a free transfer just last week, was brought on in the second half.
He had the chance to win it late on but squandered a golden opportunity before the game went to penalties.
The 28-year-old then endured more frustration in the shootout, as Calvert-Lewin failed to convert his penalty.
Piroe and Sean Longstaff also missed from the spot as Leeds were knocked out 3-0 on penalties.
Despite what was ultimately a debut to forget, the striker later shared a message with the fans, determined to move forward and make a bigger impact in the months ahead.

Can’t wait to see you all at Elland Road.”

His words earned plenty of support, with Illan Meslier and Largie Ramazani among the first of his new teammates to react by liking the post, while Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier also showed his support with a like.
Calvert-Lewin joined Leeds as a free agent after leaving Everton, where injuries disrupted his final seasons on Merseyside, as he made just 19 starts last term.
The move raised some eyebrows among supporters worried about his fitness record, but the striker will now be determined to prove a point and win them over in the weeks ahead.

With the window closing in just a few days, Farke is still looking to strengthen his squad and add more attacking options alongside Calvert-Lewin.
Football Insider revealed Leeds have set their sights on Nottingham Forest winger Jota Silva as one of the players they could move for before deadline day.
The 26-year-old is thought to be open to a move, and after Leeds missed out on Brazilian winger Igor Paixao earlier in the summer, Silva has now emerged as a leading candidate to bolster their options out wide.
