Liverpool are a little preoccupied to be thinking too hard about summer transfers right now.

Aa well as being involved in a pretty intense end to the season, the Reds are trying to sort out who’ll be their next manager.

Nevertheless, the window stops for no man. And with some clear upgrades needed in the team, Liverpool have still been on the end of plenty of transfer rumours.

Plenty of that gossip has centred around who the Reds could target should star forward Mohamed Salah decide to leave. Salah continues to be linked with a big money move to Saudi Arabia and a transfer seems like a possibility.

And after Liverpool were reported to be monitoring one of the Egyptian’s national team colleagues, journalist Fabrizio Romano has now weighed in.

Liverpool scouting Eintracht Frankfurt

The player in question here is of course Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush. The 25-year-old has been in excellent form this year and could be an interesting option for Liverpool.

With 10 goals and six Bundesliga assists for Eintracht this season, Marmoush looks ready for the next step.

But according to Romano, the Egypt international may not be the only player Liverpool are targeting from the German side.

Writing in his Daily Briefing this morning, the journalist claimed that the Reds have indeed been scouring Eintracht throughout the season.

“Omar Marmoush the Egyptian winger has been linked with Liverpool, and I’m aware they have scouted Eintracht in general to monitor some players,” says Romano.

“But there is nothing imminent or close at this stage with Marmoush or any other player. Eintracht have not communicated a price yet for Marmoush, so we are at really early stages of this story.”

Who else could Liverpool be targeting

This is no doubt a very interesting titbit from transfer expert Romano. Not least because Liverpool were previously linked with Eintracht sporting director Markus Krosche.

In the end that obviously didn’t happen, but the Reds clearly like what Krosche is doing. And for good reason.

Eintracht have an excellent record in the transfer market recently and have some really exciting talents in their squad. 19-year-old Hugo Larsson could one to keep an eye on for Liverpool as might centre-back Willian Pacho.

With the team from Frankfurt up in 6th in the table, it’s been a good season under Dino Toppmoller. It isn’t a surprise to see the Reds’ interest piqued.
