The former striker and now the Reds’ first female ambassador is set to take part in Saturday’s annual legends game match.
Dowie, who is Liverpool Women’s all-time scorer and retired in 2023, was selected in the 23-person squad, becoming the first female to ever play for the club’s legends’ side.
It’s a proud moment for the 36-year-old, who, in addition to raising money for thousands across the Liverpool city region, feels her inclusion is another sign of how the game is developing.
For me to be in this position as the first female ambassador of the club, my task is to always try and be the first, the first to play in a legends game, but hopefully not the last as well.
The pair will play together when Liverpool Legends face Chelsea.
