Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised the club for the signing of Germany international Florian Wirtz.
The 58-year-old called time on his Liverpool career in the summer of 2024 and has since taken on a new role as Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull.
Yet, his close ties with the Reds remain as he was present at Anfield last month to witness Arne Slot’s side lift a historic 20th league title and also serves as an honorary ambassador for the LFC Foundation.
Klopp is also seemingly keeping a close eye on Liverpool’s transfer business, as he was asked about the signing of Wirtz, which was confirmed by the club on Friday evening.
The Reds fought off fierce competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Bayern Munich, to secure the 22-year-old playmaker, who becomes the most expensive signing in the club’s history with an initial £100m fee paid to Bayer Leverkusen.

Having led Liverpool to Premier League glory himself, Klopp understands just how difficult it is to strengthen a title-winning squad.
However, he believes Wirtz will do exactly that, offering a glowing endorsement of the signing.
"This is going to be absolutely fantastic.
They’ve signed an exceptional talent in Florian Wirtz.
It’s going to be great."
Wirtz became Liverpool’s second signing of the summer when he signed a five-year deal at the club’s AXA Training Centre on Friday.
