Everton are planning to walk away from their pursuit of Southampton star Tyler Dibling after completing the signing of Jack Grealish.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Everton will not meet the 19-year-old’s lofty asking price.

Having already seen three offers rejected for Dibling, the Toffees are prepared to look elsewhere while they feel Grealish brings similar attributes to their team.

Football Insider revealed on 2 August that Southampton are demanding £50million to sell Dibling with any interested party set to find an agreement difficult.

Everton had initially been confident of signing the teenager but have instead set their sights on alternatives in the transfer window’s closing stages.

This comes as Football Insider revealed on 6 August that Everton saw a £40million offer rejected by Southampton, who have now begun planning to replace the winger.

This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.

Brown told Football Insider on 2 August that Everton would pull the plug on signing Dibling as they do not believe he is worth the asking price.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the imminent arrival of Grealish, albeit on loan, has made their decision easier.

“Everton are going to look at other options,” he told Football Insider.

“I think it was always unlikely that they’d meet the asking price for Dibling, because they don’t think he’s worth the £50million Southampton are asking for.

“I don’t think there are any clubs out there who are going to be willing to pay that.

“Now that they’ve brought Grealish in, I’m told they’re planning to look elsewhere.

“He’s a similar type of player in that he’s not an out-and-out winger, he’s not the quickest but he’s very good technically and can take on his man.

“So they don’t need one of those on both sides of the midfield.

“Grealish coming in means they can drop the interest in Dibling, and from what I hear I don’t think they would’ve got to that asking price anyway.”

David Moyes’ side are planning for a busy end to the transfer window, and remain interested in a move to sign Rangers forward Hamza Igamane.

Football Insider revealed on 12 August that Rangers are expecting to receive offers for Igamane in the closing stages of the window amid growing interest.

Sources say no official bids have been made for the forward, who is valued at £20million, but a number of clubs are now weighing up potential offers.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that Everton are in the race for Igamane alongside the likes of Lille, Rennes, Udinese and Feyenoord.
