Wolverhampton Wanderers look set to sell Fabio Silva in a move that could have a knock-on effect in Newcastle United’s striker search.
Silva joined Wolves from Porto for a massive £35.6million fee (BBC) in the summer of 2020.
Now 23 years old, Silva has registered just five goals and six assists for Wolves, spending the majority of the last three seasons away from the club on loan — at Anderlecht, PSV, Rangers and Las Palmas.
It’s the latter where Silva enjoyed the most success, hitting 10 goals and three assists in 24 La Liga appearances, despite Las Palmas suffering relegation in 19th with just 32 points.

Silva scored 25% of Las Palmas’ La Liga goals last season, so it’s little surprise to see clubs pursuing his signature this summer.
According to Sky Sports, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have entered talks with Wolves to sign Silva, but face competition from fellow German side RB Leipzig.

The news of bids coming in for Silva comes off the back of interest from Newcastle in Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The Norway international enjoyed an excellent campaign at Molineux on loan from Celta Vigo last season, hitting 14 goals and four assists in 35 Premier League appearances.
That loan was made permanent this summer, but Newcastle still have Strand Larsen on their shortlist should they miss out on Sesko.
However, Wolves surely will not sanction his departure if they’ve already sold a striker this summer — especially having already lost Matheus Cunha to Manchester United.
The Midlands club are ‘determined’ to keep Strand Larsen as it is, according to former Premier League scout Mick Brown.
“Wolves are determined to keep Strand Larsen, from what I’ve been told,” he told Football Insider.
“Newcastle have already missed out on a few players this summer, and I think Wolves are confident they can keep hold of him despite their interest.
“If Isak leaves, there’s not a lot Newcastle can do about it because he’s made it clear he wants to go.
“But they have to make sure they get his replacement right.
“They’re looking at a few targets because they’ll want to assess all of their options in that position.
“Strand Larsen is one of those targets, but to be honest I’d be surprised if he was top of their list.
“I don’t see him as being a replacement for Isak, and I doubt they do either.
“From Wolves point of view, they’ve already lost Cunha after he joined Man United, and they don’t want to weaken their team any more than it has been.
“Strand Larsen is a key player for them, so I think they’ll do whatever they can to keep him.”
