Fabrizio Romano has claimed Liverpool plan on holding contract talks with Virgil van Dijk in the coming weeks, with Fabinho the next on the list.
But that will not stop them in their pursuit of keeping Van Dijk and Fabinho, with talks for the big Dutch defender set to start ‘in the next couple of weeks’, according to Romano.
Romano claims Liverpool have yet to hear back from Wijnaldum since December although they do want to keep the Dutchman.
We all knew how important Van Dijk was but the form of Fabinho has proven just how important he is to the cause.
But Romano claims Liverpool want to extend that deal again to prevent any notion of him even considering a move away.
The Wijnaldum situation has lingered over them for too long this season and they want to avoid any sort of repeat in the future.
Speaking on his Here We Go Podcast, the respected journalist and transfer guru says Liverpool’s priority is to tie up both Van Dijk and Fabinho, regardless of the situation with Gini Wijnaldum.
