Tony Bloom could be the catalyst to bring a stunning Premiership title to Hearts if he is allowed to implement his recruitment strategy.

That is the view of Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider exclusively that the SPFL would be easier to topple, as they are not competing with the likes of Liverpool, PSG, or Real Madrid.

The British businessman has been chairman of Brighton since 2009, overseeing the club’s rise into the Premier League off the back of smart recruitment.

This has often involved investing in young talent from abroad before selling them on for mammoth fees, which was seen with Alexis Mac Allister’s move to Liverpool, or Moises Caicedo joining Chelsea for a then British-record fee of £115m [Sky Sports], two years after joining the Seagulls for £4.5m [Sky Sports].

And it was announced on 25 June that Tony Bloom had invested £9.86million [Sky Sports] into Hearts in return for a 29% stake in the Scottish club.

The 55-year-old, who has also overseen Union Saint-Gilloise’s rapid rise to become champions of Belgium, stated he wanted to “disrupt the pattern of domination which has been in place for far too long” within Scottish football.

Speaking to Football Insider, Le Tissier said that he thinks with Bloom’s investment, Hearts could become champions of Scotland in less than a decade.

He said: “This season, which I thought was interesting, was Tony Bloom investing at Hearts.

He’ll want to try and shake things up in Scotland and I think I saw in an interview say that he’d want Hearts to be winning the title in the next decade.

Celtic have won four Premiership titles in a row.

“It would be interesting to see what sort of input he has, what sort of investment they have at Hearts, and just to see if they can actually get closer to the Old Firm.”

When asked if Bloom’s investment could cause Hearts to become a Premiership title challenger in less than a decade, Le Tissier said: “It wouldn’t surprise me because the model that he’s got down there at Brighton has been incredible.

The one massively great thing that Brighton have done well is the recruitment.

“If they get the recruitment right at Hearts, it’s not a league where you’re playing teams of the ilk of Liverpool or PSG or Real Madrid, it’s only Celtic they’ve got to take over.

“They can get there in less than a decade if they get the recruitment right.

As a consequence, Hearts want to sign Everton shot-stopper Harry Tyrer to bolster their defence.

The 23-year-old has one year left on his contract at the Hill Dickinson and he is now available after Blackpool failed to reach an agreement to make his loan permanent.
