Tottenham fans have responded with shock after a new update was released on Radu Dragusin’s return from injury.

Radu Dragusin has struggled to make his mark at Tottenham over the last 18 months since a January 2024 move from Juventus for a reported fee of £21.5million [The Guardian].

The Romania international made just nine Premier League appearances in his first half-season under Ange Postecoglou as other centre-backs were often preferred to start, but will have headed into last term with optimism that he could become a regular in North London.

He started the campaign out of the team once again, but then was regularly picked by the Australian boss throughout the winter period before Dragusin suffered a serious ACL injury in February and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old’s blow left many fans gutted after he had shone during an extended run in the starting eleven, but those same supporters will now be pleased to learn of a huge update as he nears the end of his comeback trail.

Thomas Frank recently said that Dragusin was “on the way back” and had “been running for a while,” and Spurs posted on their official X account on Monday (8 September) to reveal that he is now back in the mix with his teammates, saying: “One step closer…Radu’s back in training!” with a video of him on the grass.

One Spurs fan quoted the club’s X post to admit their shock, saying: “Insane how Dragusin is back already.

He done his ACL in January, started running again in May & now he’s back in training.

He’s built different,” while another excitedly replied: “Gonna be a beast under Frank.”

“Really excited to see what Dragusin can do under Thomas Franks guidance.

People forget how highly rated Dragusin was in Serie A because of the suicidal defending under Ange,” another fan added.

Another supporter believes Frank will be able to get the best out of him.

“Looking forward to seeing him under a proper manager,” they said.

Dragusin was not named in Tottenham’s Champions League squad last week due to his lengthy time on he sidelines, but his return will provide a huge boost to their chances of success in cup competitions due to added depth at centre-back.

Frank only has three other recognised, senior players in his position as it stands, and Tottenham fans are equally excited and surprised to see Dragusin back in training, with him returning ahead of schedule and potentially in contention to be in the squad against West Ham this weekend.

Whether he will actually be able to stake his claim to start immediately is unlikely after such a long time out, but an upcoming Carabao Cup clash against Doncaster Rovers on 24 September may well be a target set by him and Frank for a full comeback on the pitch.

Dragusin will want to hit the ground running to prove to the Dane that he should be picked consistently, especially given that he has not had a pre-season under him, and mainly because he will want to get back into their Champions League squad in January when teams can make adjustments.
