Ibrahima Konate made his full Liverpool debut today as Liverpool took on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

The £35m summer signing made his first start alongside Virgil van Dijk and the fans were very impressed.

Liverpool 2-0 Crystal Palce

The Reds took on Palace at Anfield as they hoped to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

They did just that as they saw off Patrick Vieira’s side with relative ease.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring just before halftime to maintain his remarkable record against the Eagles.

He latched onto a parried Mohamed Salah header to tap home unmarked following a good corner-kick routine.

It was a deserved goal. The Reds dominated the first half and should really have scored one or two more.

Having that said, Palace did have a few chances of their own.

They came into it a bit more in the second half. Liverpool were still the better team, but their opponents were getting on the ball more than in the first 45 minutes.

The lead was then doubled by Salah after 78 minutes.

Naby Keita added the cherry on top with a fantastic volley after Vicente Guaita punched clear a corner.

Jurgen Klopp’s side saw out the game well and took home another three points. They are quietly having an excellent start to the Premier League season.

Konate handled Palace excellently

Summer signing Ibrahima Konate made his first competitive Liverpool start. He partnered Virgil van Dijk in a completely new partnership from midweek.

The Frenchman had a really assured start to life in England.

He handled everything that Palace threw at him.

From the physical test of Christian Benteke to the pace of Wilfried Zaha, he answered every question.

The impressive Odsonne Edouard then came on and caused a few problems, but Konate dealt with them excellently.

The 22-year-old showed that his pace is next level, while he is also as strong as an ox.

Yet what impressed us most was his calmness when being ran at. Konate didn’t dive in unnecessarily, which is something we love about Virgil van Dijk.

He was impressive on the ball too, to add to it all. He had a pass success rate of 87%, completing two long balls.

Konate has the makings of a world-class centre-back, that is for sure.

Hopefully, we see him playing against Norwich City in midweek as well.

What did Twitter think?

It wasn’t just us that was impressed by Konate today.

Here are some of our favourite reactions to his performance from Twitter.
