Liverpool were beaten by Crystal Palace in the Community Shield today after a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
They faced a Palace side who stunned Manchester City on their last visit to Wembley in May to claim the FA Cup, which was the first major trophy in the South London club's history.
Thousands of reds travelled down to Wembley while many watched in venues around Merseyside, such as BOXPARK in the Baltic Triangle.
A small minority of Crystal Palace supporters jeered throughout the silence.
The majority of fans in the Palace end quickly urged those making noise to be quiet as they shushed their noisy peers.
Palace soon equalised on the 17th minute after Virgil Van Dijk was judged to have brought down Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta converted from 12 yards out.
The reds had the chance to increase their lead with two chances from Ekitike but Palace increased the pressure as the second half went on, resulting in a goal from Sarr in the 77th minute.
Mateta was able to put Palace in front but Eberechi Eze wasn’t able to put them two up in the shoot-out.
