Man United have privately confessed that they could be willing to sell Bruno Fernandes should a “huge” offer arrive, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 30-year-old has been subject to behind-the-scenes discussions.
As things stand, the midfielder is considered unlikely to leave while Ruben Amorim is keen for him to stay, but the right offer may change their stance.
Brown told Football Insider in May that Man United could accept offers for Fernandes after an in-house agreement that every player has their price.
Despite having turned down an offer from the Saudi Pro League earlier this summer, talk about his future has resurfaced amid interest from Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Al-Nassr.
As a result, the chief decision-makers at Old Trafford have not ruled out his departure in a shock new twist.

This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.
Brown told Football Insider on 16 May that United are not prepared to let Fernandes leave this summer despite interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa, has explained that a “huge” offer could force them into an unwanted decision.
“There has been a lot of talk about Bruno Fernandes again,” he told Football Insider.
“Man United’s stance has always been, privately, that they’d consider letting him go for the right price.
“If a huge offer came in from Saudi Arabia or wherever, they’d have to consider it.
“It’s something they discussed behind the scenes when the Saudi interest first came up this summer.
“Personally, I think any offers for him should be rejected out of hand but that isn’t the stance the club have gone with for any of their players.
“We know Ruben Amorim wants to keep him, and Bruno is happy to stay.
“He turned down that move earlier in the summer, so I think it’s unlikely he would have changed his mind and I would be very surprised if he did go.
“But the club and those higher up have always been open to offers, which I think is terrible.
“Their stance should always have been that there’s no way Bruno is leaving, completely rule it out, don’t entertain offers, and then that door is closed.
“The reason it keeps coming up is because clubs know United might be open to it.”

Fernandes has not been the only key player linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer amid ongoing speculation about Kobbie Mainoo’s future.
Football Insider revealed on 3 August that Mainoo is increasingly likely to stay at United beyond the transfer window despite interest from Chelsea and Tottenham.
Amorim was not initially convinced by Mainoo, but has been won over by his performances in training and now values him as a key member of his squad.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Mainoo is set to remain at Old Trafford despite initial expectations that he would leave.
