Kobbie Mainoo is happy to remain at Man United beyond the end of the summer transfer window following the club’s U-turn, according to the club’s former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period, and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that Ruben Amorim is planning for the 20-year-old to be part of his squad.

Meanwhile, early window interest from Chelsea has faded and United have not been made to rely on player sales for their business as originally expected.

Brown told Football Insider on 22 July that Mainoo looks set to remain at Man United for the upcoming season despite the initial expectation that he would leave.

The midfielder turned down the offer of a new contract in March, and was expected to explore his options this summer as he aimed to move abroad.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider revealed in March that Man United will accept £70million bids for Mainoo as they plan to raise significant funds from his sale.

Brown told Football Insider oin February that Man United plan to accept offers for Mainoo this summer in an attempt to climb out of a difficult financial position.

However, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, has explained that all parties are now happy for him to stay.

“There are a number of players Man United want to get rid of,” he told Football Insider.

“From what I understand, Kobbie Mainoo is not one of them after a change of mind.

“The likes of Garnacho, Sancho and the other who have been left out of training in pre-season, that’s who the club are looking to raise money from.

“In my opinion, they should never have been considering letting Kobbie Mainoo go, it was a crazy idea.

“After he didn’t sign that new contract, it looked like he had decided he wanted to leave.

“That interest didn’t really come as heavily as they maybe expected, but I won’t complain about that.

“From what I hear, he’s going to be happy to stay into the new season and hopes he’ll be a bigger part of the team as Amorim is going to use him more regularly.“

Mainoo is not the only player being linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, as Luke Shaw is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

Brown told Football Insider on 29 July that Shaw could leave Man United and could be tempted by the “huge” money on offer from the Saudi Pro League.

Amorim, meanwhile, is willing to let the left-back leave should an acceptable offer arrive thanks to the emergence of Patrick Dorgu and Harry Amass.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in December that United must make a decision about Shaw’s future amid ongoing concerns about his lingering injury issues.
