Man United chiefs are “delighted” with the deal for Jadon Sancho to join Aston Villa on loan, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that concerns had emerged they wouldn’t be able to move him on.
Villa are believed to be covering around 80 per cent of the 25-year-old’s significant wage packet, easing the concerning financial burden on Man United.
Brown told Football Insider on 19 August that Man United were confident of selling Sancho despite the winger turning down a late offer from Roma.
A number of clubs across Europe had been in contact with the England international’s agent but his wages were putting them off of making officials moves.
However, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Man United had slashed Sancho’s asking price alongside Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund to force through moves.

Sancho’s loan is costing Aston Villa over £10million in wages, while the deal is believed to have included a loan fee and bonuses based on his performances.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that United have come off better from the deal than Villa, regardless of how he performs on loan.
“Man United are delighted with the deal for Sancho,” he told Football Insider.
“They were desperate to get rid of him, desperate to get his wages off the bill, and it had started to look like nobody was going to come in for him.
“There had been talks about different clubs and different loan deals but it was getting a bit concerning that he was more likely to stay.
“Then Villa have come along and resolved all of that, they’re paying a huge chunk of his wages.
“I think it’s a deal that suits Man United far more than it does Villa, especially financially given the situation both of the clubs seem to be in.
“They also managed to make £22million selling Antony, so it was a good day in that respect.”

Aside from their late transfer deals, pressure is still building behind the scenes at Old Trafford amid questions about Ruben Amorim’s future.
Speaking to Football Insider on 2 September, Amorim was labelled a “disgrace” as a result of his actions on the sidelines against Grimsby and Burnley.
Amorim sat with his head down unable to watch as Bruno Fernandes stepped up to the spot, while the same was seen during the penalty shoot-out defeat to Grimsby.
This comes after ex-Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor labelled Amorim and United “embarrassing” as a result of his actions during the Grimsby shoot-out.
