Man United are planning to accept an offer for Andre Onana in the closing stages of the transfer window, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that they plan to replace the 29-year-old with a new option.

This comes after Ruben Amorim revealed the goalkeeper was left out of the starting XI due to his performances in training and has fallen out of favour.

Brown told Football Insider in June that United could accept cut-price offers for Onana late in the window as they remain keen to move him on.

The likes of Emiliano Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma have been linked with moves to Old Trafford this summer as they continue to assess high-profile options.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 18 August that Man United could re-sign David de Gea, who could be available on a cheap deal.

Brown told Football Insider in April that Man United want £50million for Onana, but will accept bids to make back a large percentage of their £47.5million outlay.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, insisted that United will entertain offers should they arrive late in the window.

“Man United are still looking to get rid of Onana,” he told Football Insider.

“The noises coming out of the club give me the impression that they don’t think he’s good enough for what they want to do.

“Fine, if that’s the decision they’ve made, they have to do something about it.

“If offers come in for him late in the window, they’re keen to listen to them.

“Ideally, they’d have been able to move him on earlier in the window and then they could make a move to bring in his replacement.

“But they seem to have missed out on Emi Martinez and Donnarumma looks like if he’s going anywhere it will be to Man City.

“United will have plans in place, though, because they still want to upgrade on Onana.

“I don’t know if there’s any interest there at the moment, it will be a case of waiting and seeing what comes in, but if something does then they’re ready to listen.“

Onana is not the only player to be heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, as speculation continues to surround Jadon Sancho.

Brown told Football Insider on 19 August that Man United are confident Sancho will leave, despite his decision to snub a move to Roma.

A number of clubs across Europe are believed to have made contact with the winger’s representatives but have so far been unable to agree terms.

As a result, Brown told Football Insider in June that Sancho must slash his wage demands to secure a move away before the end of the transfer window.
