Man United have dismissed enquiries about the availability of Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that Ruben Amorim has no intentions of selling the 32-year-old as things stand.
The England international’s leadership and experience are seen as key qualities in the dressing room, while he remains part of the boss’ first-team plans.
After United opted to extend his contract in January, Brown told Football Insider that Maguire would hold sit-down talks with Amorim about his future at the club.

The centre-back is happy at Old Trafford and is keen to remain at the club for the foreseeable future despite interest from a number of Premier League sides.
West Ham are believed to be long-term admirers of Maguire, but the Red Devils have made clear to any suitors that he will not be leaving the club this summer.
This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.

Brown told Football Insider in December that Maguire has won over Amorim since his arrival at the club and the boss is now a huge admirer of his abilities.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, insisted that the club’s latest stance has been made clear to interested parties.
“Man United aren’t going to let Maguire leave,” he told Football Insider.
“A few clubs have been interested and had made contact to check whether he would be available, but those talks have not been allowed to develop.
“They see Maguire as a very important part of the squad, both on the pitch and off it.

“He’s played consistently with all sorts of pressure, speculation and issues around him, and he’s come through that and proved himself.
“From what I hear, Ruben Amorim is a fan of him and he doesn’t want to see him go.
“He’s a leader and an experienced head in the dressing room for the younger players, but he’s also one of their better centre-backs every time he plays.
“He’s an integral part of what Amorim is looking to do, and there are no plans to let him go.
“As long as he’s fit, he’s an important part of the squad.”
While speculation about potential sales continues to rumble on at Old Trafford, they remain interested in strengthening the squad before the window closes.
Brown told Football Insider on 12 August that Man United want to sign Carlos Baleba, who is interested in making the move from Brighton this summer.

The midfielder is said to have spoken to friends in the United squad and is keen on the switch, although it is unlikely he will push for the move.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 12 August that Man United are pushing to sign Baleba as part of an ambitious plan late in the window.
