Man United will accept an offer for Rasmus Hojlund in the next few weeks if they can land a new striker first, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 22-year-old is more likely to stay than leave at this stage.
This comes after both Hojlund and Ruben Amorim spoke out about the striker’s future at the club, with no plans as things stand to move him on.
That represents a significant U-turn from the boss, after Brown told Football Insider in May that Hojlund is unlikely to remain at Old Trafford in the coming season.
After missing out on key attacking targets Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres, there is a growing feeling the Denmark international could remain their leading number nine.
However, there is no lack of interest in him, as Brown told Football Insider on 17 April that Juventus are interested in Hojlund as are a number of European sides.

Football Insider revealed on 4 July that Man United could cash in on Hojlund before making a move for Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins in the final month of the window.
However, Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham and Tottenham, explained that Hojlund will not be allowed to leave unless there is a guaranteed replacement on the way.
“Hojlund will only be sold if somebody else is coming in,” he told Football Insider.
“If they can agree a deal for a new striker to come in, then they’re going to listen to offers for him, and will accept one, but they don’t want to be caught short.
“If they let Hojlund go and then can’t bring anybody in, they’ll be in a difficult position with no striker.
“I think Hojlund has had enough opportunities in a United shirt to make a fair assessment, but I don’t think he’s good enough to be relied upon as the main striker.
“He’s honest and he works hard, but for what United need, I don’t think he’s good enough.
“The problem is, they can’t do anything about that until they find a replacement.
“Ideally at the start of the summer, they’d have signed one of their main targets in Delap or Gyokeres and then they could’ve moved him on.
“But the situation they’re in now, they can’t let Hojlund go without already having a replacement.
“At this stage of the window it would be very difficult for them.”

Hojlund is not the only player being linked with a move away from Old Trafford this month amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Kobbie Mainoo.
Football Insider revealed on 3 August that Mainoo is likely to stay at Man United despite the interest from the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham.
Amorim was not initially convinced by Mainoo, but has been won over by his performances in training and now values him as a key member of his squad.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Mainoo is set to remain at Old Trafford despite initial expectations that he would leave.
