Rasmus Hojlund now looks certain to be the latest big name to leave Man United after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that Amorim is taking steps to “force” the striker out of the exit door.

The 22-year-old was left out of the squad for United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal as the boss made clear he will not be a part of his plans for the season ahead.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 18 August that Hojlund is edging closer to leaving Man United with new offers set to be accepted.

AC Milan are believed to be the front-runners for his signature, although he had recently confessed his desire to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.

However, in similar vein to that of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, Amorim has informed Hojlund he will have to either leave or not play.

Brown told Football Insider in March that Hojlund has no future at Man United after an “alarming” failure to make improvements to his game since joining the club.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, insisted that Amorim is now the driving force behind his sale and is keen for him to move on.

“He was left out of the squad completely,” he told Football Insider.

“I don’t think there was any reason for it other than making it clear that he doesn’t have a part to play.

“Ruben Amorim has told him he has to leave because he doesn’t want him and won’t be using him in any significant capacity this season.

“It’s trying to force him into a move which he doesn’t particularly want to make.

“If it was up to him, I don’t think he would be leaving, because he’s made it clear he wants to stay and fight for his place and that sort of thing.

“There’s far too many player conflicts going on at the club for my liking.

“I don’t get it, I don’t see how it can be a positive place to be when different players are clashing with the manager and being forced out the door.

“First it was Rashford, then Garnacho, now it’s Hojlund.

“I can understand the manager feeling like these players don’t fit with what he’s trying to do, but there are ways of going about it and that’s not what he’s done.

“But that seems to be the way things are going at the moment.”

While speculation continues to surround potential outgoing deals at Old Trafford, the club remain keen to strengthen with a new goalkeeper on their radar.

Brown told Football Insider on 18 August that Man United want to re-sign David de Gea, who could be available on a “cheap” deal from Fiorentina.

United do not view De Gea as a long-term replacement for Andre Onana, but see a new addition between the sticks as a priority in the window’s closing stages.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 4 August that Man United want to sign a new goalkeeper as Ruben Amorim is determined to upgrade his options.
