West Ham are planning to push ahead with their interest in signing Liverpool star Harvey Elliott, according to their former senior scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Sunderland and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that a number of clubs have held talks with the 22-year-old’s agent.
Graham Potter is believed to be a big fan of the midfielder and wants to beat rivals clubs to his signature despite the growing interest in a permanent move.
Brown told Football Insider on 15 July that Newcastle and Tottenham want to sign Elliott alongside the likes of Brighton, Wolves and multiple Bundesliga clubs.
The England Under-21 star is expected to make a decision about his future later in the window after carefully considering all of his options.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider in March that Elliott is unhappy with his role at Liverpool and is keen to leave in search of more regular first-team football.

Brown told Football Insider on 10 July that Elliott is “certain” to quit Liverpool this summer as the race for his signature continues to accelerate.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the midfielder would be “ideal” for Potter’s system amid hopes the Hammers can agree terms.
“West Ham are interested in Harvey Elliott,” he told Football Insider.
“There are a lot of teams outside of probably the top five in the Premier League who have been keeping a close eye on his situation at Liverpool.
“From what I hear, West Ham feel they can convince him to choose them ahead of other clubs, and get a deal done.
“The manager is a big fan of him, and the way Elliott plays would make him ideal for his team.
“He’s not an out-and-out winger, but can play out wide, he chips in with a fair few goals and more than justifies himself in other areas of his game.
“A move to somebody like West Ham would be a very good move from his point of view.
“All of the interested clubs will have been in touch with his agent to find out what it would take to bring him in, but ultimately it will be down to the player.
“If he decides to stay in the Premier League, West Ham feel they have a good chance of landing him.”

Alongside their ambitions of signing Elliott, West Ham are also determined to strengthen in goal, and have set their sights on Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen.
Brown told Football Insider on 29 July that West Ham are pushing to sign Hermansen and he is the leading target for Potter in the coming days and weeks.
The Hammers have been eyeing a new first-choice keeper all summer after Lukasz Fabianski’s departure and concerns about Alphonse Areola’s inconsistent displays.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 25 July that Leicester are prepared to sell Hermansen to raise funds following their relegation.
