Leroy Rosenior thinks Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is ‘immense’

Leroy Rosenior has showered Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker in praise as he can ‘make a save without making a save’. The Brazilian has stunned Rosenior with his performances at Anfield, which have returned 10 clean sheets through his 27 appearances so far this season.

Alisson has registered seven of his shut-outs during 23 Premier League games, as well. The 31-year-old was unable to take another clean sheet as Liverpool beat Rosenior’s former side Fulham on Sunday, though. But the Reds still won 3-1 at Craven Cottage for three key points.

It was Liverpool’s first win in the Premier League since Alisson recovered from his hamstring injury, as well. The Novo Hamburgo native’s return may prove crucial for the Premier League title race, too, as Rosenior claims Alisson makes opponents waste shots with his positioning.

“He’s absolutely immense,” Rosenior said on Premier League Productions (22/04, 17:45). “He can make a save without making a save because he gets his position absolutely right.

“You look up and think, ‘I can’t see any of the goal’ because his position is absolutely right. It puts that anxiety and indecision in the forward and, invariably, they miss.”

Marco van Basten hopes Arne Slot turns down a chance to manage Liverpool

Dutch legend Marco van Basten hopes Arne Slot rejects a chance to replace Jurgen Klopp as the manager of Liverpool. The Reds have turned their attention to the Feyenoord boss while they seek a new head coach ahead of Klopp leaving Merseyside at the end of this campaign.

According to Sky Sports, Slot is at the forefront of Liverpool’s search for Klopp’s replacement at Anfield. The Reds feel the 45-year-old ticks a lot of their boxes after leading Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title in six years last term. They also like Slot’s aggressive playing style.

Liverpool have not settled on going all-out to name Slot as Klopp’s replacement but view the coach as a strong candidate. Yet Feyenoord are also determined to retain their sought-after tactician, who Van Basten believes can ‘go anywhere’ but wants to stay in charge at De Kuip.

Van Basten told Ziggo Sport, via quotes by FC Update: “I hope he stays in the Netherlands for a long time because it is an enrichment for Dutch football. He can really go anywhere: Bayern Munich, Liverpool… I am really convinced of that.”

He continued: “I am convinced he can do it anywhere. I’ve spoken to him a few times and he handles the players very well. He is of course also very well-versed tactically. He can explain his ideas well, he is calm and intelligent. As far as I am concerned, he is really a top trainer.”

Shaun Wright-Phillips feels Mohamed Salah is a ‘different player’ for the worse since the 31-year-old return to Liverpool from the Africa Cup of Nations. The Egyptian has only scored six and assisted four goals in 12 appearances since helping his country reach the Round of 16.

His work has taken Salah to 24 goals and 13 assists in 39 games across all competitions so far this season. He has penned 17 of his goals and nine assists in 27 Premier League outings, as well. But Wright-Phillips feels Klopp was right to bench Salah at Fulham for a lack of form.

Wright-Phillips told Premier League Productions (22/04, 14:35): “I think that’s why [Klopp] changed the front line. I don’t think it has anything to do with rest, personally.

“I think it’s more to do with putting on chances they are creating because, to be fair, as good as Salah is, since he has come back from injury and the Africa Cup of Nations, he has been a different player altogether in front of [the] goal.”
