As the Premier League season ticks to its end, Liverpool fans have had to contend with all the contract speculation amid a (likely) title-winning season.

The urgency to secure Salah’s future is understandable, given his extraordinary form this season.

The Egyptian has been nothing short of exceptional, leading the Premier League scoring charts with 27 goals, while amassing an impressive 32 goals and 22 assists across all competitions.

His contributions have been instrumental in propelling Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table, where they currently enjoy an 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.

Despite Liverpool’s desire to retain their star player, Saudi Arabian clubs have been persistent in their pursuit of Salah.

Al-Hilal has been particularly aggressive, reportedly offering a staggering £160 million per season to tempt the Egyptian forward.

Meanwhile, Thomas Spring, the Head of Scouting for Al-Ettifaq, has name-checked Salah as a player that he wants to bring to the Saudi Pro League in the near feature.

But it seems that clubs in Europe are still weighing up the prospect of signing Mohamed Salah on a free should a Liverpool not find an agreement with the 32-year-old.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italy, Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta was quizzed on their transfer plans and whether free transfers for older players are on the agenda, with the likes of Salah, De Bruyne, and Muller named as potential candidates:

The club chief responded that free transfers for these kinds of players are not ruled out:

“You need precise characteristics to build a winning team: young players, veterans, and an Italian backbone you must safeguard,” he said.

“You have to contain the costs, too.

Our philosophy is to create assets.”

“In the summer, we wish to invest in talents with great upside.”

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Mehdi Taremi are all recent examples of how Inter is not shy to pick up aging players on free transfers.

Luckily for Reds fans, all signs point toward Salah extending his stay on Merseyside ahead of the summer window.
