Inter Milan could look to secure a signing from Liverpool this summer according to reports.
The past week has brought a whirlwind of transfer activity for Liverpool, as the club’s ambitious moves have captured widespread attention.
Florian Wirtz’s potential arrival has been the standout story, with Fabrizio Romano confirming Liverpool have agreed terms with Bayer Leverkusen on a deal that could set a new British transfer record, potentially rising to €150 million.
At just 22 years old and already a Bundesliga champion, Wirtz is seen as the ideal candidate to help fill the creative void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit.
But while excitement builds around new signings, Liverpool supporters are also coming to terms with the fact that not every current player will be part of the club’s next chapter.
And one of those could be Federico Chiesa, who has a priority to return to Serie A after his bit-part role at Anfield this season.
Calcioblog have reported that Inter Milan are now “serious candidates” to bring the Italian back to Serie A.
The Nerazzurri, who have announced Cristian Chivu as their new head coach, have identified the Liverpool outcast as a primary target.
Inter’s president, Beppe Marotta, has long admired the player’s qualities, having previously attempted to sign him during his Fiorentina days.
Now, with the player’s value at an all-time low and his motivation to return to Italy stronger than ever, the stars appear to be aligning for a sensational move to the San Siro – or so the report asserts.
The move would not only offer the player a fresh start but also provide Inter with a proven performer eager to prove his doubters wrong.
And as Romano has reported, Chiesa is looking for a move back to Serie A with aspirations of making the Italy team for the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
Preliminary discussions have already taken place, with Inter making their interest known to Liverpool.
The club’s new manager, Chivu, is said to have been consulted on the potential signing and has given his approval.
Meanwhile Chiesa himself recently confirmed that he is set for crunch talks with the Anfield club, saying earlier this month:
“Soon I will sit down at the table with the club, Fali (Ramadani, his agent) and my family to find the best solution.”
