Liverpool had a massive clear-out over the course of the summer transfer window.
Even though Arne Slot led his team to a Premier League title last term, it’s clear that he still believed improvements could be made to his team.
So, with this in mind, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to find out that Liverpool spent over £400million on new signings, with players such as Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak arriving at Anfield this summer.
However, over the last month or so, with the Reds’ recent links to Marc Guehi, the rumours about his future have never been more rife.
The defender is Mr Versatile and has been used across the back four at Liverpool, which is likely one of the main reasons he’s been kept around for so long.

“AC Milan were ready to go for him, but then in the early morning, they understood that the Guehi deal was going to be dangerous until the very end, so Milan couldn’t wait until 6/7/8pm to get a deal done for Joe Gomez.

“Joe Gomez was close to joining Brighton; there was a strong possibility for Joe Gomez to go to Brighton, from what I understand.
“There were some problems then in the deal, and this is why it collapsed, especially regarding the coverage of the salary, but Joe Gomez was a target for Brighton in the final 24 hours of the window.”
Although most Premier League fans expected Liverpool to end up with Guehi among their ranks on transfer deadline day, nothing came to fruition.
Indeed, Liverpool underwent Guehi’s medical with a goodbye video even filmed for Palace’s captain, but because the Eagles couldn’t find a replacement for him in time, the move fell through.
It was never Slot’s intention to have five centre-backs among his ranks, which is likely why they were looking to find Gomez a way out, even though he can also be used at full-back.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen in the future, but with how hard Liverpool were trying to sign Guehi and move Gomez on this summer, it would be a surprise not to see the same moves tried again in January.
