Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been linked with plenty of Premier League teams after his departure from Everton this summer.
But with the Premier League resuming in less than two weeks, the England international remains unsigned.
Despite a wealth of experience and the striker market lacking options, no teams have taken a chance on the 28-year-old.
There are concerns over Calvert-Lewin’s fitness record, and for good reason as the striker has missed 62 Premier League games over the last four seasons.

However, there are also plenty of teams needing a backup option, and the forward would arrive without the need to pay a transfer fee.
Speaking to Football Insider exclusively, former England striker Matt Le Tissier explained why he was surprised that no teams had taken a chance on the ex-Sheffield United forward.

This article contains exclusive comment from former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier.
Aston Villa are considering a move for Calvert-Lewin, whilst Sunderland, Man United, and Newcastle have also been linked with the forward.
But the unavoidable doubts over his injury history seem to be a stopping point for teams interested in the 28-year-old, Le Tissier told Football Insider exclusively.
The Southampton legend revealed he was surprised no club had made a move for the striker, and revealed he thinks that Calvert-Lewin “is a very good second-choice option.”
Le Tissier said: “It’s a bit surprising, but I’m guessing the clubs are looking at his injury record, and I think that’s the thing that’s putting clubs off going for him this early in the transfer window.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt he’ll get a club at some point but it’s a bit surprising that somebody of that pedigree hasn’t been snapped up already.
“But by the looks of it looks like other teams are trying to get some fitter options over the line before settling for Calvert-Lewin when they’ve missed out on other targets.
“That’s what it seems like to me as an outsider’s point of view, because if you did get a fit Dominic Calvin-Lewin for the whole season, he’d fit into quite a lot of Premier League teams, even if he’s not the first-choice striker.”
“He is a very good second-choice option, and I think that’s possibly what he may end up being at the start of the season, just purely because clubs can’t rely on him playing 30, 35 Premier League games in the season.”
Despite having plenty of teams showing interest, one of the few teams to make a concrete offer for Calvert-Lewin has been Sunderland.

Wilson Isidor led the line for Sunderland last season, scoring 12 goals in 43 Championship games.
But Calvert-Lewin is keen to wait and see if a team higher up the table is willing to make an offer before deciding on a move to the Stadium of Light.
