Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter in confusion after the club posted a tweet about Ozan Kabak before Turkey’s 3-0 defeat to Italy.

What’s the story?

Well, Liverpool wished the 21-year-old good luck ahead of EURO 2020’s opening game last night, which sparked plenty of reaction.

The season is over, and Liverpool have decided not to activate their option to buy Kabak permanently, so he will return to Schalke 04.

According to The Athletic, the 12-cap Turkey international has already said his goodbyes and moved out of his house in Formby.

As a result, some Liverpool fans have found it odd that the club is still tweeting about him.

Interestingly, Kabak is also photographed wearing Liverpool’s new kit in the club’s tweet, which one supporter below found to be ‘very, very strange’.

It’s a shame that Liverpool decided not to sign the defender.

Kabak impressed hugely during his six-month spell at Anfield, looking very assured despite his age, and also the fact he’d never played in England.

In our view, there’s nothing in this

Some conspiracy theorists among the Liverpool fanbase might feel there’s a deeper meaning to the club’s tweet about Kabak.

However, we believe there’s nothing to get excited about.

Technically, Kabak’s loan with Liverpool doesn’t end until June 30th, according to Transfermarkt.

As a result, the club are merely continuing to act as if he’s their player.

For example, if Turkey’s game against Italy took place after that date, it’s highly unlikely that Liverpool would be tweeting about it.

We hate to pour cold water on the conspiracies below, although we’re pretty sure this is a club social media formality and nothing more.

Anyway, let’s take a look at what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about Kabak…
