Man City have been in continuous discussions with Gianluigi Donnarumma’s representatives after being notified of his situation earlier in the summer.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Pep Guardiola’s side are now prepared to accelerate their interest.
The 26-year-old has been made aware that he will be allowed to leave Paris Saint-Germain should a reasonable offer arrive, sparking plenty of interest.
Brown first told Football Insider in May that Man City are keeping tabs on Donnarumma’s situation in case Ederson leaves the club before the transfer deadline.
Galatasaray have had offers for the Brazil international dismissed by City, but there is a growing feeling that a deal is there to be agreed.
This comes as Brown told Football Insider on 19 August that City are open to letting Ederson leave as Guardiola aims to upgrade on the 32-year-old.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that a deal is now a growing possibility in the closing stages of the transfer window.
“It’s been one of the biggest surprises of the summer,” he told Football Insider.
“A team playing fantastic football always improving as a team, winning the Champions League, but they want to get rid of one of their key players.
“It’s not completely clear why, I think something must have happened that we don’t know about.
“He’s a top goalkeeper and it’s obviously no surprise that Man City are looking at him.

“They’re looking to part ways with Ederson and he would be the replacement.
“From what I hear, they’ve known that Donnarumma might become available since way back at the start of the transfer window, it’s not new.
“His agent and representatives have been in contact throughout the summer to make his position clear.
“From City’s point of view, they’ve been keeping tabs on it and working out a plan.
“I think now they’re preparing to step up their efforts to bring him in.”
Donnarumma is not the only player being linked with a move to the Etihad, as they continue to eye big-money improvements to their squad.
Football Insider revealed on 17 August that Xavi Simons and Rodrygo are on City’s radar and could be targeted in the closing stages of the window.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that City could hijack Chelsea’s move for Simons after he emerged as an option to strengthen their midfield.
However, both would be expensive deals for City to pull off, while the focus is currently on trimming the squad by cashing in on fringe players.
