With just over two weeks of the season left, Liverpool are making preparations for what looks like being a busy summer.
The Reds are all set to announce that Arne Slot has been the man chosen to continue Jurgen Klopp’s incredible legacy at the club.
Klopp has rebuilt his team over the past couple of years, meaning that the Liverpool squad is in a good place for Slot’s arrival.
However, there are still some pretty clear upgrades needed if the Reds are to push harder for the Premier League title in 2024/25.
As journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday, one key area Liverpool are targeting is at centre-back.
The journalist has his finger right on the pulse of what’s happening.
This week, he has been breaking some positive news for Liverpool.
It has been Ornstein who has taken the lead on the reporting that Mohamed Salah is set to stay at Anfield for another year at least.

And delving further into that topic for The Athletic FC podcast, he shared more about what he’s been told by those within the club.
“I’ve already heard from multiple contacts they’re [Liverpool] looking for a wide player,” Ornstein reports.
“Now, I don’t know if that’s to add to what they’ve already got.
“But it is a bit of a bulging in-tray for the new hierarchy.”
So, it looks like Liverpool will be after at least two players this summer.
Diaz is the other, and as Ornstein mentions, he’s been linked with a move away.
With that in mind it would make sense for Liverpool to look for a winger.
The Napoli man’s price-tag may be an issue, though.
If Liverpool wanted to look for more value, maybe Johan Bakayoko at PSV could be attractive.
