Liverpool have finally completed the signing of Alexander Isak on transfer deadline day.
The Reds were pushing to buy the Sweden international from Newcastle for much of the summer, and eventually made a breakthrough in the early hours of Monday morning.
Despite the deal being all agreed, it took until well past the deadline for Liverpool to announce the arrival of Isak.
The 25-year-old joins for a British record transfer fee having burned his bridges at Newcastle over the summer.
It has been a difficult period for Isak, who has not played at all since the Magpies’ final game of the 202425 season.
He will immediately jet off for international duty with Sweden, which should give him some match fitness.
And, following his return, Isak has explained whether he will be ready to play straight away.

Liverpool are going to have to be slightly careful with Isak.
The forward has a slightly chequered history with injuries and his match fitness will have dipped over the summer.
Nevertheless, he is a top-level athlete, and the time away with Sweden will give Isak some time to get back into the groove.

“Yeah, of course, that’s the ambition,” answered the Swede.
But I certainly want to play as soon as possible.”
In a long-awaited first interview as a Liverpool player, Isak also explained why he was so desperate to join the Reds this summer.
“I think it’s a mixture of what the club is building but what they’re building on top of what the club already is,” he said.
“The history of the club, getting a chance to be a part of this and I want to create history and win trophies, that’s the biggest motivation for me.”
Newcastle fans will no doubt be incensed at hearing whatever comes out of Isak’s mouth as he begins life as a Liverpool player.
But for Reds who have waited all summer long to finally get their man, it could not be any sweeter.
