David Moyes’ side were too much to handle as Everton secured all three points in a five-goal thriller against Wolves.

Beto, Hwang Hee-Chan, and Iliman Ndiaye all shared goals in the first 45 minutes at Molineux Stadium on Saturday, 30 August, with Jack Grealish remaining a key figure in the lineup.

James Garner’s clash with Vitor Pereira was also a major talking point, but it was quickly forgotten about as Grealish set up Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for a third early in the second half.

Rodrigo Gomes scored a late consolation goal, though all three points went to the Toffees in a 3-2 win, currently putting them in contention for a European spot in the Premier League table.

Jordan Pickford – 5

Miscommunication with his defenders led to Wolves’ equaliser, but thanks to Moyes’ attack firing on all cylinders, the incident was quickly forgotten about.

Jake O’Brien – 3

Clearly not a long-term fix for the right-back spot.

Struggled to deal with the pace of the game at times, losing too many battles in defence.

James Tarkowski – 5

No-nonsense defending from the 32-year-old, especially still with no Jarrad Branthwaite in the squad.

Michael Keane – 6

Much like his partner, Keane took no chances at the back, getting rid of the ball instead of attempting to play out from the back.

Vitaliy Mykolenko – 8

His first Premier League start since last season, and the Ukraine international barely put a foot wrong.

James Garner – 7

Wears his heart on his sleeve.

Could have done without a couple of fouls.

Idrissa Gueye (Off for Iroegbunam 76?) – 6

Not the Senegal international’s best performance in Everton colours, but not too much wrong done either.

Iliman Ndiaye (Off for Coleman 90+5?) – 8

Despite the arrival of Grealish, Ndiaye remains a key member of the lineup, linking up well with the Man City loanee in consecutive Premier League matches.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 7

Struggled with the physicality in the middle of the park, picking up an early yellow card, but made up for his early errors with an assist and goal against Wolves.

Jack Grealish (Off for Alcaraz 88?) – 10 – Man of the Match

Absolutely flawless.

Picked up another two assists, and was also a complete nuisance against Wolves, being fouled a total of five times.

Beto (Off for Barry 76?) – 8

After criticism from his manager during pre-season, Beto has taken it all on the chin, and against Wolves, his link-up play was incredibly important to the victory.

Substitutes

Tim Iroegbunam (On for Gueye 76?) – 6

Controlled himself well after back-to-back yellow cards before.

Thierno Barry (On for Beto 76?) – 4

Offered very little after replacing Beto.

The starter likely would have done better in the closing stages.

Carlos Alcaraz (On for Grealish 88?) – N/A

Seamus Coleman (On for Ndiaye 90+5?) – N/A
