Jack Grealish has posted a heartfelt message on social media after his season-long loan move to Everton from Man City was confirmed.
Grealish has looked very likely to depart the Etihad Stadium this summer ever since he was left out of Pep Guardiola’s Club World Cup squad following a tough Premier League campaign.
He struggled to make an impact on the Man City team throughout a poor 2024/25 season for a number of Guardiola’s star players, with just seven Premier League starts made all term.

Football Insider reported in June that Everton and Newcastle were interested in Grealish, and that he wanted to leave City as soon as possible after four years at the club following a £100million [Sky Sports] move from Aston Villa in 2021.
The Toffees recently opened talks over a loan move for the England international winger [The Athletic] after Football Insider previously revealed that Grealish was “excited” about a potential move to Merseyside, and he will now get the chance to prove himself under David Moyes.
Grealish’s move to Everton was confirmed on Tuesday (12 August), with the club revealing his arrival with a post on their official X account that said: “Welcome to Everton, (Jack Grealish)!” alongside a video of him celebrating in their new home shirt for the upcoming season.
The 29-year-old has joined the club a season-long loan deal with a £50m option-to-buy [The Athletic], and while he will be pleased to make the move as he looks to revive his flailing career, it will likely be tinged with sadness as he now looks to have played his last game for City after an initially successful period at the Etihad Stadium.

Football Insider verdict
It has seemed like an almost foregone conclusion that Grealish would be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium this summer, and now that his exit has been confirmed with the new season just around the corner, it does feel like a fresh start for him on Merseyside.
The 29-year-old’s time under Guardiola has been one of both ups and downs over the years, but his last season certainly included more of the latter as he failed to make any sort of impact in either the Premier League or Champions League while City suffered a surprising downfall.
Grealish certainly still has a lot to offer, though, as he enters what should be his prime as a player, and he will surely be a good fit in Moyes’ squad, with attackers needed to bolster a lacking forward line that saw Everton end the last campaign with the fourth-least league goals scored as a team.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Moyes has backed himself to get the best out of Grealish at Everton, and he is known to be a keen motivator of out-of-form players and those down on their luck.
Grealish was a target for Serie A champions Napoli this summer, but the chance to stay based in the north-west of England with a decent-sized club like Everton has been one that the former Villa man has grasped with both hands, and he and all connected to the Toffees will now hope that he can return back to his previous Villa form at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
