Jack Grealish’s loan move to Everton could be the catalyst for the winger to play for England at the 2026 World Cup.

That is the view of former England and Southampton star Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider exclusively that “it would be difficult to ignore” Grealish if he finds his form under David Moyes.

The 29-year-old has a medical scheduled with the Toffees, bringing a temporary end to his time at the Etihad.

Grealish was left out of Man City’s Club World Cup squad this summer after making just seven starts in the Premier League last term.

Rayan Cherki’s arrival from Lyon was the final nail in the coffin for the former Aston Villa man, but Everton will be hoping they can revive the winger’s ailing career.

And if the Toffees can breathe life into Grealish, helping him find the verve and panache that made him Britain’s most expensive footballer when he joined City, England’s manager will surely take note.

Grealish’s last appearance for the Three Lions came in 2024 when the 29-year-old scored in 3-1 win over Finland.

The winger was included in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad for the 2024 European Championships, but was left out for the tournament proper.

Speaking to Football Insider exclusively, former England international Le Tissier revealed that Thomas Tuchel will be forced to consider Grealish for the 2026 World Cup in North America if he finds his form with Everton.

He said: “If he’s playing regularly and creating and scoring goals on a regular basis, I think it would be difficult to ignore him from an England manager’s point of view.

Thomas Tuchel will lead England into the 2026 World Cup.

“He’s right up there amongst the best of them; he’s just got to make sure he plays some football before the summer.

“If he is scoring regularly and assisting regularly, then I think it would be very hard for Thomas Tuchel to leave him out.”

Grealish’s arrival at the Hill Dickinson will be a major boost for Moyes, who has been desperate for attacking reinforcements this summer.

However, it does seem to have spelt an end for Everton’s interest in Tyler Dibling.

The Toffees had two bids turned down by Southampton, who wanted a package of £50million [The Athletic] for their young winger.

Everton still need a new right-winger this summer, and will likely look for other options after being priced out of a move for Dibling.
