Brighton midfielder Jack Hinshelwood shared an update on social media regarding his injury after being forced off against Bournemouth.

Brighton have faced an underwhelming start to the season after losing two games, whilst drawing and winning once.

Their one victory came against Man City thanks to Brajan Gruda’s winning goal against Pep Guardiola’s side in dramatic fashion.

However, in their most recent outing, the side lost 2-1 to Bournemouth, whilst also suffering an injury to Hinshelwood after just three minutes.

The England Under-21 international has since updated supporters on social media after he was forced off the pitch.

Hinshelwood posted on Instagram to confirm he faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury on his ankle.

He wrote: “Not the start to the game l imagined.

I’ll be back out there soon, thanks for your support”.

It is another frustrating blow for Hinshelwood, who had established himself as a first-team regular under Hurzeler last season, making 22 Premier League starts.

His performances were recognised as Hinshelwood was called up to the England U21 side over the summer as Lee Carsley’s side lifted the European Championship.

However, injury problems have seemed to halt any momentum for the midfielder as he also suffered a knock earlier this campaign, whilst enduring a knee injury last term that kept him out for 13 games.

Meanwhile, as the side now turn focus to facing Tottenham on 20 September, the club may face a decision regarding Jan Paul van Hecke’s future.

Football Insider revealed Brighton may be forced to accept bids for Van Hecke if a Champions League club comes in for the defender.

It is understood that the Dutchman could push to leave, amid interest from Newcastle and Tottenham in the summer.

Van Hecke has reportedly rejected extension talks with Brighton, providing a boost to interested clubs.

With his deal running down in 2027, the club may soon have to prepare for life without the centre-back.
