Nicolas Jackson has seemingly lost his way at Chelsea but his shortcomings could spell the solution for Newcastle’s striker search.
After moving to the Blues in July 2023, the Senegalese has been the subject of huge amounts of criticism, the type one would expect when assuming the reigns as Chelsea‘s main goal threat.
But, after blowing hot and cold across two campaigns, it appears the former Villareal man’s time is up in south London.
The signings of Liam Delap from Ipswich and Joao Pedro from Brighton are clear as day signs from Enzo Maresca that he no longer values him so highly.

Despite the Italian essentially hurling Jackson out of the car window like a piece of rubbish, it could be Eddie Howe who picks him up off the curb and find another use for the forward at Newcastle.
According to a report by The Telegraph (6 August), after being pipped to the post by Man United for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, the Chelsea frontman has “emerged as a serious option”.
The aforementioned incomings combined with the Senegal international’s ill-discipline, which included a red card in the FIFA Club World Cup and one at St.
James’ in the league, has seen the 24-year-old surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

In spite of notching double figures in both his seasons in south London, his dotted purple patches aren’t enough to warrant a continued presence in the starting XI, especially when new toys are always available for Todd Boehly.
There is no apparent desperation from the Blues to sell the number 15, but it looks like he is being lined up as a sacrifice.
An offering which Newcastle may accept with glee for the right price.
Considering the ongoing transfer drama with Alexander Isak and Liverpool, the Toon are continuously lining up alternatives to the Swede.
Yoane Wissa remains a possibility but his return to training is a setback for Howe, despite the forward eager to secure a move to Tyneside.
However, instead of going after highly rated and wanted strikers, why don’t the Magpies go for attackers clubs don’t want such as Jackson?

The 24-year-old still has much to give and, away from the pressurising environment of Chelsea to the warm Geordie embrace, there is potential to thrive under the ex-Bournemouth boss.
Champions League football?
Tick.
Moreover, the former Osasuna poacher will be following in the footsteps of Senegalese footballing royalty Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse who both were considered honourable Geordies.
When you weigh the factors up, Jackson and the Toon seem like a match made in heaven and the number 15 would be keen to prove his doubters wrong.
Now it is down to the Newcastle hierarchy to actually get the deal over the line, I won’t hold my breath.
