Dan Burn has shared an emotional message with Newcastle United supporters ahead of their Premier League clash with Leeds United.

Meanwhile, as the transfer window nears its end, Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Yoane Wissa will be absent from Brentford’s squad against Sunderland, as he continues to push for a move to Newcastle.

After Callum Wilson joined West Ham United on a free transfer, and amid Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak, Eddie Howe must bolster his attack.

With that in mind, Nick Woltemade is set to join Newcastle after scoring 17 goals for Stuttgart last season.

In their most recent Premier League game on Monday, 25 August, Newcastle were beaten 3-2 by Liverpool in a dramatic affair which saw Anthony Gordon receive a red card.

The Magpies will search for their first win of the top-flight season when they face Leeds on Saturday, 30 August.

Meanwhile, taking to Instagram on Thursday, 28 August, defender Burn wrote: “Monday night was a monumental effort from the lads and supporters together.

On to the weekend now.”

Even if Isak joins Liverpool, Newcastle’s striker issues can be eased by the acquisitions of Wissa and Woltemade, who have excelled for Brentford and Stuttgart, respectively.

Meanwhile, having drawn 0-0 with Aston Villa on the Premier League’s opening weekend, before their defeat to Liverpool, the North East club are still searching for their first win of the new campaign.

As alluded to by Burn, the St James’ Park side showed plenty of endeavour to come back from a 2-0 deficit to Liverpool on 25 August, and level the scores at 2-2.

However, those efforts were not enough, courtesy of Rio Ngumoha’s last-minute winner for the defending Premier League champions.

Newcastle can take plenty of positives from Monday’s performance, though, and will fancy their chances of beating newly promoted Leeds this Saturday.

After travelling to West Yorkshire on 30 August, the Magpies host Wolves on 13 September, which they will view as another opportunity to earn all three points.
