Harvey Elliott has delivered a message to his teammates and supporters after making his second appearance for Aston Villa.

On Tuesday, 16 September, Villa were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Brentford via a penalty shootout defeat.

Elliott scored his first goal for Unai Emery’s side, helping them earn a 1-1 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, the former Liverpool man’s efforts weren’t enough as Aston Villa lost on spot-kicks amid the growing sack pressure on Emery.

After Elliott joined Aston Villa from Liverpool, the 22-year-old featured as a substitute when Emery’s side drew 0-0 with Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, 13 September.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, 17 September, Elliott wrote: “Glad to get off the mark last night but unfortunate to go out.

Even though Jacob Ramsey left Aston Villa to join Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, he liked Elliott’s post.

Football finance expert Dan Plumley exclusively told Football Insider that Aston Villa will have to show restraint in the January transfer window, thanks to UEFA’s financial restrictions.

The Villa Park outfit endured a largely underwhelming summer transfer window, despite the late additions of Jadon Sancho and Elliott.

However, Emery is rightfully under pressure, as his side are yet to score in the Premier League this term, having played four fixtures.

Consequently, Aston Villa need Elliott to continue the goalscoring form he demonstrated against Brentford, as they vie to turn their woeful form around.

The former Fulham man showed how clinical he can be when he scored five goals in six appearances as England won the Under-21 European Championship in the summer.

Emery will need Elliott to be at his best when Aston Villa face Sunderland on Sunday, 21 September, before beginning their Europa League campaign on 25 September.

Meanwhile, Emery’s side have been backed to sell Donyell Malen in a Villa News exclusive.
