As the business end of the season draws closer, attention will gradually start focusing on how Liverpool will begin to rebuild from a disappointing Premier League title defence.

There will be inevitable calls for Jurgen Klopp to dip into the transfer market to strengthen his squad, and over the next few weeks and months there will be a host of names that are supposedly on their shortlist.

Here, we take a look at some of the latest rumours and assess whether or not they are likely to happen or not.

Who?

Stefan De Vrij, Inter Milan centre-back.

Where?

Liverpool made an enquiry over Inter Milan centre-back Stefan de Vrij, it has been claimed.

According to FCInterNews , the Reds have asked the Serie A club about the availability of the Netherlands international.

It has also been claimed that Barcelona have expressed an interest in De Vrij, with the player being valued at close to £50million.

However, despite the apparent interest De Vrij is said to be happy at Inter and could sign a contract extension to keep him at the club until 2025.

What?

It’s hardly a surprise to see Liverpool linked with a centre-back, especially one that’s just secured the Serie A title.

The Reds will be in the market for a central defender this summer, and all the talk is that Ibrahima Konate will be that player.

However, there is nothing confirmed on that front just yet, so you never know for sure who the club will want to bring in.

Who?

Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund forward.

Where?
Borussia Dortmund have reportedly reduced Jadon Sancho's asking price to £85million.

According to German outlet Sport1, Dortmund have internally agreed to decrease their price tag this year to the region of €85-90m, due to the financial losses the club has suffered throughout the pandemic.

However, it's added that any deal will once again have to be completed prior to the start of Dortmund's pre-season training camp, which is expected to begin at the end of July.

What?

It’s still rather odd that Liverpool keep getting linked with Sancho when they already have a world class right winger in Mohamed Salah.

Yes, a time will come when a replacement must be found, but is that now?

Given that Dortmund have supposedly lowered their asking price, this could actually be that moment.

Only Liverpool themselves will know for sure whether there is any interest there, but even with the lower price it still might be too much for the club to spend in the current climate.

Who?

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool forward.

Where?

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing Mohamed Salah this summer.

According to Le Parisien, via the Daily Mail , the Reds forward is attracting interest from the Ligue 1 side amid uncertainty over Kylian Mbappe’s future and his current contract worries.

The report goes on to state that should Mbappe depart this summer, PSG will move to sign Salah as his replacement.

Salah’s current deal at Liverpool runs until the summer of 2023, and there have been no indications that an extension is on the near horizon.

What?

Another day, another rumour linking Salah with a move away from Anfield.

Given he’s among the best players on the planet, it’s hardly a surprise to see his name tipped to join some of the biggest clubs.

However, we can safely say that the chances of Salah leaving Liverpool this summer are extremely unlikely, unless a mammoth offer comes in which is also not very probable.

Yes his contract situation is unclear, but even so he has two years left to run so the club will be in no great rush to make a decision at this stage.
