Tottenham stars were among those to react to confirmed news from one of their players during the international break.

Djed Spence enjoyed a surprise resurgence at Tottenham last season under Ange Postecoglou, establishing himself as a potential option at either left-back or right-back.

Just last season, Spence was linked with a Tottenham exit after underwhelming loan spells at Leeds and Genoa.

However, injuries allowed him to step up, forcing his way into the first-team picture, before continuing that momentum with Thomas Frank.

Spence has been impressive for Tottenham at the start of this season, with a standout performance against PSG in the Super Cup, and he has now been rewarded for his displays.

With the international break now underway, Spence has been called up to England for the first time in his career.

Tottenham’s official account shared a photo of their full-back at the England training ground with the caption that said: “So proud of our Djed”.

The post saw numerous reactions with James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Archie Gray all sharing a like on the post.

With Spence continuing to impress Tottenham fans, he has also continued to fight for his place in the team against the likes of Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie.

Before 15 December last year, Spence had played just 64 minutes of Premier League football in the 2024-25 season but has since made a turnaround as he made 35 appearances in all competitions.

As for England, they play Andorra at Villa Park on Saturday (6 September) before travelling to face Serbia in Belgrade next week, and whether or not he makes his debut remains to be seen.

While Maddison and Solanke were active online celebrating Spence’s news, both are among Spurs players currently sidelined, adding to growing concerns over squad depth.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness “expected” Morgan Rogers to be a Tottenham player with injuries to Maddison, Kulusevski and Solanke, but a deal never materialised.

While Tottenham signed Randal Kolo Muani on deadline day, there was no signing to directly replace Hueng-Min Son, and with injuries already impacting the squad, there are concerns the side may face another injury crisis as they did last season.
