Nottingham Forest are on the ascendancy in the transfer window after a shock turn of events changed their fortunes.
The Tricky Tress qualified for European football for the first time since 1995/96 last season and the club only wants to show ambition in the transfer market.
The Manchester City midfielder is linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, but McAtee’s price tag, and competition for his signature, is currently a hurdle the club need to overcome.

Football Insider Verdict
McAtee has plenty of options this summer, with Everton, West Ham and Bundesliga club’s also pursuing the 22-year-old.
The midfielder spent two seasons at Sheffield United, impressing in his loan spell at Brammall Lane.
Pep Guardiola though decided to keep him at Man City last season and with the injuries in the squad, McAtee amassed a total of 27 first team appearances.
McAtee’s displays have gathered interest and Forest need a replacement for Anthony Elanga and need to add depth to their squad ahead of European football next season.

With the options at Guardiola’s disposal, McAtee is unlikely to break through the ranks at the club to become a starter week in week out.
McAtee may have to follow a similar path to the likes of Cole Palmer, who left City in 2023 to join Chelsea, to be able to showcase their talent on a weekly basis.
It would be a signal of intent from Forest if they can beat their rivals to McAtee and showcase their ambition to push for a European spot again.
